Don’t have a cow man, have a blast with 3 fans of the longest-running cartoon in prime-time television history -- The Simpsons!
Fanatical takes you to Decatur, Illinois to meet Laine Henderson. With over 9,000 items, Laine has everything from a Simpsons pinball machine to unauthorized Simpsons condoms! Laine describes his passion for the show as an “obsession”, something he’s an expert on since he’s a professional therapist specializing in counseling people with issues of compulsive behaviors. Laine plans on taking his collection on the road in a school bus which he’s working to transform into a traveling Simpsons Museum.
Shift gears from collector to professor, as we visit PhD math Professor Sarah Greenwald at the Appalachian State University in North Carolina. Many of the creative geniuses behind The Simpsons have advanced math degrees and the show is rife with jokes ranging from arithmetic to geometry and calculus.
From there, we head to Toronto, Ontario and visit Steve Watt, cartoon entrepreneur and Simpsons lover. Steve and his wife Kelly own “Animation Connection”, the only gallery in Canada licensed to sell Simpsons show art and cells.
Every year, Steve organizes “Simpsons Mania” – the largest fan event in the country. Here, hundreds of Simpsons fans gather to purchase original series art work, and meet the animators and creators of the show.
