Beam yourself into the retro-Trekkies year of 1966 – the year Star Trek first originally aired.
Fanatical takes you to film set in Maryland to meet mega-fan John Broughton, a 35 year-old marketing director from Washington, DC who’s love of Star Trek has inspired him to create his own fan film “Starship Farragut”.
A project over a year in the making, join the cast and crew of over 50 as they shoot the final scene of the film. This project has been no mean feat: months of writing, set construction, special effects, and high tech CGI all come down to this final moment. Watch as John gets to live out his childhood fantasy playing a Captain Kirk type role of his own design!
From there travel to Knoxville, Tennessee and meet Tim Brazeal, a man who’s fandom literally saved Star Trek.
When Tim caught wind that Enterprise was going to be cancelled, the little boy inside him who loved Star Trek growing up decided to take a stand. Through Tim’s online initiative, thousands of fans from around the world sent letters, faxes, and e-mails and called the powers that be to support the series.
Due to the fan support the show was saved, and the campaign made Tim a celebrity in the Trekkie community. Join Tim as he speaks at a Star Trek convention and take a tour of his massive collection of hundreds of Star Trek memorabilia items.
